In this Academy of Architecture for Health session, we will explore the analytical tools utilized to plan hospital emergency departments and determine acuity levels. Planning concepts will be reinforced by the use of case studies. This course will take the attendees past the basic elements of the emergency department and into the preliminary planning and programming that precede the design process. They will learn the differences in designing spaces to treat patients of varying acuities and levels of trauma. Case Studies will be utilized to illustrate these concepts.
