Risk Strategies

Each year, in partnership with AIA Middle TN, Risk Strategies, presents an all-day seminar on legal issues and risks in the construction field, and how to best mitigate those risks. AIA is dedicated to promoting the accountability of schools offering professional degree programs in architecture for better preparing their students to become architects upon graduation.

We are looking for a full time design professional non-licensed or licensed to join our team.

Scott Wilson Architect, LLC offers a unique opportunity for a design professional wanting to learn all aspects of small project design and construction execution. As a boutique firm, you will be exposed to every facet of providing architectural services from conceptual design through construction administration. You will have the opportunity to work directly with clients and other team members on a variety of residential, historic and unique commercial projects.

Responsibilities:
• Project manage, coordinate, and design client requirements during the schematic and design development stages.
• Manage and/or produce clear and concise Construction drawings that incorporate the original vision of the client
• Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive understanding of applicable building codes as they relate to the design and construction of residential structures
• Seek an ongoing knowledge of the successful trends within the industry
• Coordinate the production of the project with the entire project design team (Contractors, Interior designers, Landscape Architects, etc.) as is necessary to create a successful project.
• Provide the final quality control efforts for all work product created
• Assist with revisions and maintenance of the Archicad standards library


Qualifications / Skills:
• Ability to provide elegant and efficient design solutions
• Ability to hand sketch design ideas
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
• Working knowledge of wood frame and light metal construction
• High attention to detail
• Ability to work with and without direct supervision
• Comfortable with ambiguity and time spent outside of comfort zone acquiring new skills
• Technically creative and open-minded

• Flexible work schedule with minimal overtime and no weekends required.
• Ability to accommodate personal scheduling conflicts as needed.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution
• 3+ years of architectural experience preferably within the hiring firm’s field
• Proficiency in Archicad, Photoshop, and Libre Office suite is required, or willingness to learn is expected.
